Tesco pharmacies take up initiative to fight dementia

Tesco pharmacy, the UK-based pharmaceutical chain, has partnered with Alzheimer's Society to provide essential information and support on dementia in their 350 stores across the UK.

Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland are Tesco Charity of the Year 2011, which will provide the supermarket with leaflets and booklets as part of the program.

Both the charities intend to increase diagnosis rates through this initiative with Tesco pharmacy.

A formal diagnosis for dementia affected people is believed to be essential as it would help them access drugs, support and advice to improve their quality of life.

Tesco Superintendent Pharmacist Adrian Price said working with Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland would help inform their customers about this health issue and help tackle the problem of low diagnosis rates.
