Thermo Fisher Scientific acquires assets from BD

Thermo Fisher Scientific has signed an agreement with Becton Dickinson (BD) to acquire certain assets of the polystyrene roller bottle product line. Roller bottles are one of the several production cell culture platforms that are critical for the manufacturing of vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins and cell-based therapeutics.

Thermo Fisher Scientific vice president and general manager Verner Andersen said the acquisition of BD’s assets enables the company to provide continued availability of the product line to customers using roller bottles in their validated manufacturing processes and offer a full range of complementary production cell culture products.

Production of the newly acquired line of polystyrene roller bottles will be relocated to Thermo Fisher’s Fairport, New York facility.
The acquisition transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year.

BD is a technology company that develops, manufactures and sells instruments, medical devices and reagents.
