Thermo Fisher unveils new bioprocessing mixing system

Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched a new single-use mixer Thermo Scientific HyPerforma Single-Use Mixer (SUM) DS 300 system for pilot-scale liquid preparations for vaccine and biologic manufacturing.

Ideal for both upstream and downstream processing, the HyPerforma SUM DS 300 system enables producers to meet liquid production demands with a minimal capital investment.

The HyPerforma SUM DS 300 system is intended to mix buffers and media from liquid-to-liquid and power-to-liquid and in re-suspension applications.

Thermo Fisher single-use technologies senior product manager Millie Ullah said that the single-use technologies have typically been out of reach for most pilot-scale manufacturing applications.

"Our new HyPerforma mixing system combines the performance, flexibility and economy that smaller-volume applications require including the ability to mix, store and ship in the same container, delivering outstanding flexibility and high throughput," Ullah added.

The HyPerforma SUM DS 300 system consists of a docking station with an adjustable top-mounted, angled mixing system for either a single-use bioprocess container bag or liner in stainless steel or standard plastic drums that can accommodate volumes from 50 to 300L with a 5:1 turn down ratio, according to the company.
