Vitamin Shoppe Q4 net sales up by 19.2%

US-based specialty nutritional products retailer and direct marketer Vitamin Shoppe has reported a 19.2% growth in net sales to $241.86m in the fourth quarter 2012, up from $180.27m for the same period in 2011.

The firm registered a net income of $9.41m in the current quarter, as against $5.96m for the same period in 2011.

Vitamin Shoppe’s gross profit for the quarter rose to $74.5m a 24.9% growth, compared to $59.7m for the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

Vitamin Shoppe chief executive officer Tony Truesdale said the firm has gained strong merchandise margins, which further showed growth in operating margins and earnings per share at a healthy double-digit pace.

"I want to thank all the Vitamin Shoppe team members for their contributions. It is due to all their hard work that we were able to successfully execute our strategic initiatives and deliver another quarter and year of outstanding financial results," Truesdale added.
