Vitamin Shoppe to open new US distribution center

Nutritional products retailer and direct marketer The Vitamin Shoppe is planning to open a distribution center in Ashland, US.

The $39.5m distribution center will lease a building and is expected to generate174 jobs.

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell was quoted by Virginia Business as saying that The Vitamin Shoppe continues to expand its storefronts across the US and Virginia provides mid-Atlantic market reach to serve the company’s customer base.

The Governor has granted a $200,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Hanover County with the project.

The company’s recruitment, training and retraining activities will be funded by The Virginia Department of Business Assistance.

The Vitamin Shoppe with 550 stores sells vitamins, minerals, nutritional supplements, herbs and health and beauty aids.

Virginia was the other competitor for the project apart from North Carolina.
