Watson Gets FDA Approval For Generic Toprol XL 25mg, 50mg

Watson has received approval from FDA on its Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) for metoprolol succinate extended-release Toprol tablets USP, in the 25mg and 50mg strengths.

Metoprolol succinate extended-release is a beta-blocker used to treat angina, heart failure and high blood pressure.

According to IMS sales data, the Toprol XL 25mg and 50mg and its generic equivalents had annual sales of approximately $628 million for the twelve months ending June 2009.
