Chemical enhanced oil recovery (EOR) using techniques such as polymer flooding can extract an additional 20% of the oil remaining in a reservoir following primary and secondary recovery. This article describes work carried out at TU Clausthal, Germany, to rheologically characterize polymer solutions for EOR applications. Understanding how any given solution flows and interacts with the pore geometry of the reservoir is the key to achieving beneficial performance.
Unique product and service portfolio extensively covers all steps from cell line development to commercial manufacturing processes
A study of how matter behaves under the interrelating influences of force, deformation, and time, rheology is utilised by Dr Steve Carrington of Malvern Instruments and Prof. D. J. McClements of the University of Massachusetts to monitor how food changes whilst being chewed.
In particular, Malvern's article demonstrates the correlation between molecular changes (Raman Spectroscopy) and microstructural evolution of rheological properties (DLS, DLS-optical microrheology) for the first time for surfactant-based wormlike micellar system.
