The dosage form of a drug is traditionally composed of two things: The Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), which is the drug itself; and an excipient(s), which is the substance of the tablet, or the liquid the API is suspended in, and is pharmaceutically inert.
Drugs are chosen primarily for their active pharmaceutical ingredients and the therapeutic class for which they are active. Spectrum active pharmaceutical ingredients provide activity for a wide range of therapeutic classes.
Spectrum APIs products are manufactured, packaged and stored under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) per 21CFR part 211 in FDA registered and inspected facilities; many of the APIs have a Drug Master File (DMF) available.
