While electronic data capture (EDC) has become a standard in interventional studies, it has lacked acceptance for the conduct of observational studies due to cost implications and training/familiarisation needs which are associated with the established EDC systems. Thus, there is a need for systems which are self-explanatory, easy to handle, and cost efficient to meet the specific needs of observational studies. MEDIDATA GmbH met this need by developing its proprietary system, REDCAS.
