Arco Powerscan allows rapid batch scanning. The user interface is very simple. Arco Powerscan is based on the Kofax AIPE drivers and can also be equipped with Kofax VRS (Virtual Rescan) for dynamic contrast improvement. Functions like bar code recognition and image improvement are supported.
When document scanning is done with specialised scanners as well as with all-around multifunctional appliance, it is important that a number of processes are taking place at a central location:
• Bar code or patch code recognition for automatic splitting of documents
• Bar code recognition for automatic indexing
• Image improvement: deskewing ( rectifying images), removal of black borders and points, etc
• Generation of a result file
• Generation of the image format (Tiff or PDF)
The Kofax Ascent for Invoices module is specifically directed towards automatic processing of supplier invoices.
Functionalities are:
• Automatic extraction of the data from the header of the invoices (supplier data, invoice reference, invoice data, sums, VAT data, PO numbers, etc.)
• Automatic extraction of the detailed invoice data (per line: number of pieces, unit prices, total…)
• Validation of the data: checks of the fields with database linking, data correction, visualisation of error messages…
• Generation of a result file for insertion in the accounting application (in order to register or to book).
The Kofax Ascent for Mailrooms module is specifically directed towards the automatically processing of incoming mail.
• The incoming mail is classified by theme
• The data are read automatically
• The mail can be archived and distributed to the addressee with less processing time.
• This can be done as well for incoming paper items as for faxes and e-mails.
When scanning documents, the quality of the scanned images is not always optimal: some images are vague, to light or to dark, crooked or almost unreadable. Thanks to Kofax VRS it is not necessary anymore to set up the scanner and rescan the documents over and over to obtain a good image.
Kofax VRS functions as an electronic check-point for scanned documents: while the images are being processed, VRS performs different controls on each image. VRS checks the images on clearness, contrast, sharpness and alignment. Each abnormality is immediately corrected by VRS, in order to produce the best readable images. Furthermore the file size of the produced images is smaller than without VRS.
