Urea

Urea is a white crystalline powder used in the biopharmaceutical industry. Urea is commonly used in denaturing and solubilising proteins.

As a chaotropic agent, it is used to restructure proteins. In certain cases where proteins are denatured, Urea may also be useful in re-naturing these proteins. At BioSpectra, Urea is manufactured in a continuous process which has been validated following cGMP guidelines. All equipment used in the manufacture of Urea is dedicated to that process to ensure the highest quality and purity.

All raw materials used in the Urea process are received through an extensive supplier approval program and are tested for quality and purity before use. During the manufacturing, the quality control unit performs testing at specific intervals in the process to ensure that the material meets compliance. All finished Urea product is tested against multi-compendial specifications.
