“When many of our biopharmaceutical manufacturing customers began to establish significant operations in Asia, we saw a need,” said Millipore chairman, president and chief executive officer Martin Madaus. “Millipore’s service and support philosophy is to offer top notch expertise and high level support worldwide. As our global customers expand in Singapore we need to be right there with them. This new facility continues and enhances the local support we have provided for more than 25 years in Singapore.”
Madaus was joined by a number of dignitaries at today’s opening ceremony including representatives of Singapore’s Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and Singapore‘s Economic Development Board (EDB).
“We welcome Millipore’s new regional training facility, which leverages Singapore’s position as a strategic base for global biomedical sciences companies,” said Bah Kina Teak, director, Biomedical Sciences, Singapore Economic Development Board. “We believe this facility marks the start of an exciting partnership with Singapore to accelerate growth in this region, and further strengthen Millipore’s position as a leader in Asia.”
Millipore’s BSTC Singapore facility is located in Science Park, and is designed to support biopharmaceutical manufacturing. The facility will allow local and regional customers to investigate, explore and optimize their separations, purifications and monitoring processes and be supported by Millipore’s local, regional and international experts. The company will also offer a full slate of training courses beginning in March 2009.
“Millipore has been training people for over 50 years and we believe that training is the key to success for our biopharmaceutical manufacturing customers,” said Brian Yau, vice president of Millipore Asia-Bioprocess Division. “In Singapore, we will offer training courses taught by our team of international experts who have unparalleled application and process expertise.”
