Arlington Neonatal Intensive Care is a two-physician practice that staffs the Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, which has annual patient volume in excess of 5,000 NICU patient days.
The physicians will practice as part of Mednax’s Pediatrix Medical Group, a national medical group that encompasses the nation’s neonatal, maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric cardiology physician group practice.
Mednax paid cash for the Arlington practice, which is expected to contribute immediately to the company’s earnings. No additional terms of the transaction were disclosed.
Scott Tisdell, medical director of the Arlington practice, said: “Today, our practice is growing, and it’s becoming more difficult for us to just be physicians. Pediatrix is well-known and well-respected in terms of its commitment of resources to physicians and I look forward to participating in some of those programs, such as clinical trials, that would lead to improved patient care.”
