Bausch & Lomb names new president of North American vision care division

Bausch & Lomb, an eye health company, has appointed Peter Valenti, III, as the new president of its North American vision care division, effective January 2009.

Mr Valenti was most recently vice president and general manager of surgical devices (US) for Covidien. Prior, he spent 12 years with Johnson & Johnson, serving in a variety of US and international roles across consumer, pharmaceutical and device businesses. These included positions as vice president, global strategy, and vice president, US marketing, both in vision care.

Mr Valenti has earned an MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut.

Stuart Heap, corporate vice president and global president of vision care at Bausch & Lomb, said: “Pete possesses deep leadership experience, as well as considerable eye health and general healthcare expertise. His appointment further strengthens our existing team, which is focused on delivering innovation in the contact lens, lens care and vision accessories segments of the industry.”
