Impulse Monitoring and HMA sign agreement

Impulse Monitoring, a provider of intraoperative neuromonitoring services to hospitals, has signed an agreement with Health Management Associates, an operator of general acute-care hospitals in non-urban communities in the US.

Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, Impulse Monitoring (IMI) will offer to all of Health Management Associates’s (HMA) 56 hospitals its comprehensive intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) services, including IMI-qualified neurophysiologists and real-time professional oversight experienced physicians.

IONM assesses neurological function involving the brain, spinal cord and related nerve structures during surgery. Use of IONM facilitates the surgical process and can reduce surgical risk by providing alerts to surgeons of potential harm to spinal cord or neural structure.

Johnny Owenby, senior vice president of support services at HMA, said: “At the core of every patient care decision we make is our mission to deliver to our patients the highest quality healthcare services possible.

“Our decision to offer Impulse Monitoring’s IONM services not only reinforces this mission, but also offers our surgeons an added dimension of support to minimize surgical risk and promote the best possible patient surgical outcomes.”
