Wolters Kluwer and Allscripts to improve delivery of medical information

Wolters Kluwer Health, a provider of drug and medical information services, has teamed up with healthcare IT firm Allscripts to develop an online platform that will provide information about medical products and drug therapies.

According to the two companies, the new platform will enable pharmaceutical companies to deliver clinical-based education about new drugs and therapies to physicians worldwide, in an attempt to increase physician knowledge and improve patient care.

“Physicians have come to appreciate and rely upon the electronic delivery of clinical information,” said John Monahan, CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health, Pharma Solutions. “Together we’ve created an environment where physicians and patients both can benefit.”

The alliance will utilize Allscripts’ technology platform, physician relationships and online experience, while Wolters Kluwer Health will offer global reach, life-cycle knowledge and clinical content from its library of journals, periodicals and publications.

The alliance is currently active in Europe but expects to roll out programs in the US and Japan later this year, with the aim of making it available in all major pharmaceutical markets throughout the world.

Wolters Kluwer Health’s clinical tools group is also engaged in an existing relationship with Allscripts that aims to provide additional value to healthcare professionals at the point of care.
