news.Healthcare benefits company Aetna has received a healthcare contract from the Dubai Health Authority to provide support to outpatient care practices in Dubai.

Aetna will collaborate with Gateway Healthcare to provide administrative and financial services to outpatient care practices (OCPs) in Dubai. The two companies will also offer management services like management and flow of funds, negotiation of arrangements with hospitals and development of disease management programs.
The OCPs are part of Dubai government’s special healthcare program. As part of the new health system, all Dubai residents have to register with an OCP in order to receive basic medical services. The new system is expected to be implemented from January 2009.
Itp.net quoted Martha Temple, president of Aetna Global Benefits, the company’s international division that coordinated the agreement with the Dubai Health Authority, as saying: “Our goal is to help create a primary care-focused healthcare system in Dubai dedicated to providing comprehensive individual-centered care.”
