GlaxoSmithKline Consumer signs brandsswap deal with GSK Pharmaceuticals

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare has signed a brandsswap deal with its associate company GSK Pharmaceuticals to cross £1bn revenue mark by 2016.

As part of the agreement, GSK Consumer will market and sell GSK Pharma’s over- the-counter calcium and vitamin supplement Ostocalcium while GSK Pharma will market and distribute products under the consumer division’s arm Glaxo Nutrition including Actigrow and Actibase nutrition supplements.

GSK managing director Zubair Ahmed was quoted by India Infoline as saying that the cross-functional collaboration deal, to swap select brands and independently market, is one of the four levers of growth that the maker of Horlicks milk drink and Sensodyne toothpaste has identified to more than double its revenues from Rs32.59bn (£388m).

"We will collaborate to leverage each other’s assets in more than one ways," Ahmed added.
