Pall launches new bioreactor system for improved cell culture performance

Pall, a provider of separation systems and single-use filtration and purification technologies, has launched the new XRS 20 Bioreactor system aimed at improving cell culture performance in biotechnology applications.

The bi-axial agitation properties of XRS 20 Bioreactor System accelerate nutrient and metabolite transport in the cellular micro-environment through improved mixing and higher mass transfer.

Thus, the cultures are expected to reach higher densities with enhanced viability rates resulting in superior protein expression levels.

Pall BioPharmaceuticals president Ken Frank said, "The versatile, easy-to-use XRS 20 Bioreactor System combines state-of-the-art, single-use technology with advanced controls and features that improve cell culture performance."

The bioreactor specially developed for mammalian cell cultivation in suspension culture along with other life sciences research applications, is suitable for 2-to-20 liter scale full good manufacturing practice (GMP) production.

System incorporates Allegro XRS 20 biocontainer with integrated components such as sensors, filters, drain and tubing sets for swift installation and competent production in addition to Advanced XRS 20 controller with touchscreen interface.

Touchscreen interface aids in monitoring and controlling process parameters while XRS 20 platform with interlock protects susceptible media components from light and provides safety to the operator.
