Quality Chemicals to produce new oral antiretroviral drug

Uganda-based pharmaceutical manufacturing company Quality Chemicals Industrial is planning to produce a new oral antiretroviral drug.

Designed for adults above the age of 18, the recommended dose of Duomune drug is one tablet and should be taken once daily with food.

The company said Duomune should be taken as a single tablet, rather than in combination with others.

Quality Chemicals Industrial executive director Emmanuel Katongole was quoted by the Observer newspaper as saying that, "Production begins in May after QCIL has secured the National Drugs Authority approval."
