Dr. Reddy’s introduces Finasteride tablets in US

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has introduced Finasteride tablets of 1mg strength, in bottle counts of 30 and 90, in the US.

The company obtained market exclusivity for 180 days for Finasteride 1mg tablets in the country.

Finasteride tablet is the bioequivalent generic version of Propecia tablets, a prescription medicine used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia).

Propecia, which is a registered trademark of Merck Sharp & Dohme, a subsidiary of Merck, is said to block the formation of Dihydrotestosterone in the scalp thereby inhibiting further shrinkage of affected hair follicles.
