Source BioScience expands distribution network in East Asia

Source BioScience, a healthcare and biotechnology company, has expanded its distributor network for its Geneservice and Autogen Bioclear life science research products and services in the East Asian market.

Source BioScience has appointed a number of distributors for its Geneservice life science research products in the important East Asian market. EnoGene Biotech has been appointed in China and Hong Kong; Dynebio Company in Korea and BioEtc in Singapore and Malaysia. This network will distribute the company’s portfolio of Geneservice genomic reagents including the extensive range of RNAi and cDNA clones and libraries.

Source BioScience has also appointed Moritex to be the exclusive Japanese distributor for the company’s Geneservice next generation DNA sequencing services on its Illumina Genome Analyser II platform.

Source BioScience now offers a catalogue in excess of 49,000 high quality antibodies following a number of new agreements signed with suppliers and manufacturers of genomic reagents and antibodies. The company also anticipates adding a further 40,000 antibodies, optimized for immunohistochemistry, to its catalogue which will be launched before the end of 2008.

Source BioScience has also signed supply agreements with a number of manufacturers to offer an increased range of antibodies under the company’s Autogen Bioclear own label. These agreements extend the range of research areas that the company’s portfolio now addresses as well as increase the depth of product offering across the range.

Source BioScience has also enlarged its existing distribution agreement with Kabushiki Kaisha Dnaform (KK DNAForm) of Japan to include the latest KK DNAForm cDNA libraries as well as the library construction services. Through Geneservice, Source BioScience already exclusively distributes the KKDNAForm FANTOM and DNABook cDNA libraries in the UK.

Nick Ash, managing director of Source BioScience, said: “The East Asia expansion of our distributor network is particularly exciting as we have historically found this emerging market for life science research products and services difficult to penetrate. We have reached agreements with a number of local distributors to offer our range of genomic reagents but also enable access to our next generation DNA sequencing technology.”
