Vitamin Shoppe to purchase Super Supplements for $50m

The Vitamin Shoppe has agreed to acquire the assets of a specialty retailer of vitamin, mineral and supplements, Super Supplements, for $50m.

The acquisition of the Seattle-based Super Supplements that operates 31 stores in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, US, is expected to expand the Vitamin Shoppe’s Pacific Northwest business.

The Vitamin Shoppe CEO ssid, "Super Supplements’ key management team will remain in place and are excited about the growth opportunities we collectively envision."

Transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close on 31 December 2012.

Super Supplements CEO Jim Sweeney said, "As part of the Vitamin Shoppe family, Super Supplements will be able to leverage the Vitamin Shoppe’s scale, operating infrastructure and product development expertise."
