Hindustan Antibiotics restarts saline production in India

Indian Public sector drug manufacturer Hindustan Antibiotics (HA) has restarted the production of saline bottles at Pimpri after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lifted the "ban" imposed on it in July following a "labelling" issue.

The company was reportedly inspected by the FDA officials before giving approval some 10 days ago.

Hindustan Antibiotics personnel manager T Das was quoted by Express India as saying that HA has taken the necessary corrective measures and covered whatever deficiencies were pointed out.

"We had stopped the production for 15 days following FDA directives," Das added.

FDA joint commissioner B R Masal said FDA had sought explanation from HA.

” After receiving their reply, we asked the company to restart production," Masal added.

FDA has also issued a show-cause notice to the company and is awaiting its reply, according to joint commissioner.

The HA management had withdrawn over 1 lakh saline bottles from its Jaipur plant following the ‘labelling’ issues in July.
