news.Mylan Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Mylan Laboratories, has received final approval from the FDA for its 40mg generic version of Eli Lilly's antidepressant Prozac.

According to Mylan, the 40mg strength of fluoxetine capsules, the generic name for Prozac, had US sales of approximately $118 million for the 12 months ending March 31, 2007.
Mylan previously received approval for and is currently marketing the 10mg and 20mg strength of fluoxetine capsules. The company said that it will now also begin shipping the new dosage immediately.
