Danadams Pharmaceutical to produce anti-retroviral drugs in Ghana

Government of Ghana, West Africa, is planning to partner with Danadams Pharmaceutical to produce anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs in the country.

Health minister of Ghana, Alban Bagbin said the project will help the country to stop the perennial importation of the drugs from developed countries.

The company also exports anti-retroviral drugs to Togo, Burkina Faso, La Cote d’Ivoire and the Gambia, ghanabusinessnews.com reported.

The Ministry of Health will hold talks with the pharma company to know what percentage should be given out from the GHC150m pledged by government to reduce infection of HIV and AIDS within five years, Bagbin said.

Danadams Pharmaceutical chief executive officer Yaw Adu Gyamfi said in some African countries, ARV drugs contracts were awarded to local pharmaceutical companies for production, to generate revenue and jobs for the country.
