Gavi Alliance to launch rotavirus, pneumococcal vaccines

The Gavi Alliance is set to fund 16 developing nations for launching rotavirus vaccines and 18 countries to roll out pneumococcal vaccines.

Gavi has already rolled out rotavirus vaccines in Sudan, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Guyana, and Honduras.

By 2015, Gavi and its partners are planning to support more than 40 of the world’s poorest countries to rollout rotavirus vaccines and immunise more than 50 million children.

Gavi CEO Seth Berkley said the Gavi Alliance is now delivering on its promise to protect more children across the developing world against rotavirus, pneumococcal disease and other life-threatening yet preventable diseases.
