Baxter International buys Baxa

Baxa develops pharmacy technology including ExactaMix compounder, devices which automate multi-ingredient nutritional solution compounding and the DoseEdge Pharmacy Workflow Manager, an integrated system for managing IV and oral dose preparation activities.

Baxter’s Medical Products business develops multi-chamber containers which are prefilled and provide essential ingredients of balanced nutrition to patients.

Both Baxter’s premixed medications and Baxa’s pharmacy automation aid in reducing medication errors and improve operational effectiveness.

Baxter Medical Products business president Robert Davis said with these new offerings, Baxter will be able to provide a solution to fulfill the majority of patients’ nutritional requirements and increase efficiency in the pharmacy.

"Bringing this expertise together with Baxter’s capabilities and global reach will enable us to continue to meet our customers’ needs and extend our position in IV nutrition and fluid delivery," Davis said.
