Proxsys offers services for care coordination, order transmission, referral management, hospital patient registration, and insurance pre-certification.
With this acquisition, athenahealth will ramp up its care coordination service, athenaCoordinator.
Following the acquisition, athenahealth plans to integrate Proxsys and its service offerings onto its centrally hosted, cloud-based service platform, athenaNet.
The transaction is expected to close during Q3 2011.
athenahealth chairman and CEO Jonathan Bush said this acquisition accelerates the launch of their new athenaCoordinator service, which facilitates the flow of information throughout the health care supply chain, improving care coordination for current and future clients.
