Drug affordability key US electoral priority, says survey

A survey conducted by the Alliance of Minority Medical Associations has found that drug affordability ranked high among majority of the Americans, according to PharmaTimes.

While 47% of voters who participated in the survey, ranked affordability of medicines as the top priority, 22% of them rated ease of access to doctors, clinics, and hospitals as the second most priority. The survey also found overwhelming support for new approval pathway for generic or follow-on biotechnology therapies.

Randall Maxey, president of Alliance of Minority Medical Associations, said: “With rising healthcare costs and increasing pressures that limit access to prescription drugs, this survey reinforces the fact that Americans overwhelmingly desire another pathway to affordable medications.”
