Action Medical Research awards Oxford grant to develop meningitis vaccine for children

Action Medical Research has awarded £148,052 grant to researchers at the Oxford Vaccine Group, Department of Paediatrics and the Jenner Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine, at the University of Oxford, UK, to develop a novel vaccine against Meningitis B for children.

The funding will be used for the pre-clinical development of a novel vaccine to prevent meningitis B infection in children.

Action Medical Research senior research evaluation manager Dr Alexandra Dedman said the organisation is determined to stop the suffering of babies and children caused by meningitis.

"The charity finds and funds some of the best medical research in the world for the benefit of babies, children and young people," Dedman said.

Action Medical Research is a UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children.
