news.Ardea Biosciences has appointed John Beck as senior vice president, finance and operations and CFO effective May 27, 2008. He will resign from the board of directors shortly thereafter.

Mr Beck joins Ardea Biosciences from Metabasis Therapeutics, which he co-founded in 1999 and where he served most recently as senior vice president of finance, CFO and treasurer.
Barry Quart, president and CEO of Ardea Biosciences, said: “John has served as a member of our board of directors since June 2007. He is a proven leader with more than 20 years of financial management experience. We believe that he will play an important role in our ongoing success.”
