BASF explores opportunities to invest in Brazil

BASF is exploring opportunities for a new investment in Brazil and is considering projects that include the production of acrylic acid, butyl acrylate and superabsorbent polymers (SAP).

BASF is conducting feasibility study to assess the technical, commercial and economic viability of operating a world-scale complex in Brazil.

Following the completion of feasibility study, which is estimated to be completed in 2011, BASF will take decision on the plants to built as well as their capacities.

This investment is targeted towards the growing South American market with special focus on Brazil.

Acrylic acid is an important precursor in the value chain of superabsorbents, the active component of baby diapers and other hygienic products.
