WellPoint NextRx and Blue Cross of Idaho extend contract

WellPoint NextRx, the pharmacy benefits manager, has announced a new five-year agreement with Blue Cross of Idaho to serve as the pharmacy benefits manager for their 550,000 members.

As part of the agreement, NextRx will continue to provide Blue Cross of Idaho with pharmacy benefits management services for their individual, group and Medicare Part D members. Under this agreement, Blue Cross of Idaho will utilize NextRx’s fully integrated management systems to provide claims processing, network management mail services, and prior authorization services. WellPoint NextRx will also support the plan’s clinical programs, drug utilization review and formulary management.

NextRx has served as pharmacy benefits manager for Blue Cross of Idaho, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, since 1997 and the renewal of this contract will extend this agreement for an additional five years.

Renwyck Elder, president of WellPoint NextRx, a division of WellPoint, said: “We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Blue Cross of Idaho and help them develop programs that offer access to quality medications that are more affordable for their members.”
