EMR or pharmacy systems can easily integrate these high-resolution pill pictures into their current drug information, PEPID said.
The pill pictures are pre-mapped to the National Drug Code (NDC) code set to make adding the pill images fast and simple.
PEPID claims all of its clinical decision support data and tools can be integrated into any healthcare information system, electronic medical record (EMR), electronic health record (EHR) or emergency department information system (EDIS) to help meet requirements for meaningful use.
PEPID president John Wagner said now clinicians can eliminate the guesswork and properly identify their patient’s medications by using PEPID’s high-resolution pill pictures, available for integration within their electronic medical record (EMR), healthcare information system (HIS) or pharmacy system.
PEPID chief technology officer Edward Reynolds said their pill pictures are mapped to existing nomenclatures IDs, including NDC, for easy integration into existing EMR and pharmacy systems.
"Developers can use our software development kit and APIs to programmatically receive drug information, pill pictures or both," Reynolds said.
