Oligonol has anti-inflammatory effect: New study

A recent study has demonstrated the anti-inflammatory properties of Oligonol lychee fruit ployphenol when administered to humans.

Oligonol is a proprietary form of lychee fruit extract which shows improved bioavailability due to its low-molecular weight polyphenols.

The study measured the effects of Oligonol intake on cortisol, interleukin (IL)-1beta and IL-6 concentrations at rest and after physical exercise in 19 healthy, sedentary males.

Results showed that the intake of Oligonol significantly decreased cortisol levels and serum levels of IL-1beta and IL-6 compared to before treatment.

A reduction of the stress hormones cortisol and inflammatory cytokines (IL-1beta and IL-6) were also seen when Oligonol was taken orally.

University of California research professor Robert Hackman said the results from this study strengthen previous suggestions about the potential value of flavanol supplementation for health and human performance.

Oligonol has been marketed in Japan as a functional ingredient for supplements, cosmetics and food.
