Japan-based Eisai reported an increase in nine-month profit by 25% with its improved sales and reduced administrative costs.

This has led the net income rise to 67.4bn yen ($823m) in the period ended 31 December 2010 from 53.9bn yen a year earlier. This has also translated into a 1.6% sales increase amounting to 613.9bn yen.
In a statement made in October 2010, Eisai reiterated a forecast for full-year profit to rise the most in a decade. The company hopes to see its net income jump by 74 percent to 70 billion yen in the year ending 31March 2011.
Eisai has also said that its revenue will fall 4.1% to 770bn yen with its present cut in sales forecast.
