news.Abaxis, a developer of point-of-care blood analysis systems, has signed a new 10-year supplier contract with BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) for Orbos reagent beads at an approximate value of $30m.

Under the deal, Abaxis supplies dry reagents using the company’s patented technology-Orbos Discrete Lyophilization Process (the Orbos Process) to BD.
The contract enables the production of a precise amount of active chemical ingredient in the form of a soluble bead.
The aim of the agreement is to deliver active ingredients in a stable, pre-metered format.
