Covidien wins key ruling in patent litigation case

Covidien has reported that a federal jury has ruled in favor of the company in the patent litigation case Applied Medical Resources versus United States Surgical.

The jury ruled that United States Surgical, a Covidien subsidiary, does not infringe Applied Medical’s US patent related to trocar seal technology.

Scott Flora, president of Surgical Devices, Covidien, said: “We are very pleased with the jury’s verdict and look forward to continuing to provide innovative surgical instruments to our customers.”
