news.Omnicare, a provider of pharmaceutical care for the elderly, has named John Figueroa as the new CEO of the company, effective 1 January 2011 who will serve as a member of Omnicare's board of directors.

Figueroa will replace James Shelton, who has served as Omnicare’s Interim president and CEO since August 2010.
Most recently, Figueroa served as president of the US Pharmaceutical Group at McKesson Corporation.
Shelton said that the board conducted a thorough and comprehensive search and unanimously concluded that John is the right person to lead Omnicare’s next chapter of growth.
"It has been a privilege for me to lead the organisation as interim president and CEO of Omnicare over the past few months and I look forward to helping John during the transition," Shelton.
