Takeda outlines strategies to expand into India

Takeda Pharmaceutical Company is planning to expand its business into India with medium- to long-term strategies including those for a variety of functions such as sales & marketing, research, development, chemistry, manufacturing and control (CMC), manufacturing and IT.

Takeda’s basic plan consists of the strategies for expanding the Takeda group’s presence in India and at the same time, to pursue productivity and cost-effectiveness as a whole within Takeda group, by leveraging capabilities at competitive costs in research, development, CMC, toll-manufacturing services, and IT services that India offers.

Takeda plans to expand into India by pursuit of alliance with local pharmaceutical companies for earliest possible launch, penetration and maximising the value of the company’s products.

Takeda said that it is expected to establish a legal entity in Mumbai by January 2011 to support the planned strategies by ensuring immediate access to updated information on the Indian market and environment surrounding it including laws and regulations and promoting alliances with local companies.
