Mylan Pharma introduces generic Wellbutrin XL tablets

Mylan Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Mylan Inc, has introduced Bupropion Hydrochloride extended-release tablets USP, (XL), 150mg and 300mg (Once-Daily), a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Wellbutrin XL.

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion hydrochloride) is an antidepressant of the aminoketone class and is chemically unrelated to tricyclic, tetracyclic, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, or other known antidepressant agents.

Wellbutrin XL is supplied for oral administration as 150mg and 300mg, creamy-white to pale yellow extended-release tablets. Each tablet contains the labeled amount of bupropion hydrochloride and the inactive ingredients: ethylcellulose aqueous dispersion, glyceryl behenate, methacrylic acid copolymer dispersion, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, povidone, silicon dioxide, and triethyl citrate.
