Boiron unveils Chestal cough syrup without dextromethorphan

Boiron, a company engaged in homeopathic medicines, has introduced Chestal, a natural cough syrup free of dextromethorphan.

Boiron claimed that the launch is a result of the success of Chestal’s counterpart, Children’s Chestal, which was released two years ago amid concerns over the safety of other active cough syrup ingredients for small children.

Boiron claimed that the blend of safe homeopathic medicines with honey in Chestal coats and soothes the throat and then set to work loosening chest congestion to improve both dry and productive coughs for a speedier recovery.

Beth Israel Medical Center, Manhattan Department of Integrative Medicine chairman Woodson Merrell said that a homeopathic cough syrup like Children’s Chestal works differently, that is, instead of working against the body as a suppressant, it works naturally with the body as an expectorant and therefore is able to improve the productivity of a multitude of coughs.
