MWV Appoints New Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer

To oversee MWV’s strategy development and management process by integrating and aligning all strategy functions

MeadWestvaco (MWV) has appointed Peter Durette as the new chief strategy officer and vice president of the company. In this new role, Mr. Durette is expected to oversee MWV’s strategy development and management process by integrating and aligning all strategy functions, and assisting the company’s senior leadership in developing next-generation profitable growth strategies.

The company said that he will be instrumental in continuing its focus on driving long-term growth in shareholder value. In doing so, he will establish a new MWV Strategy Council to co-ordinate the work of the Strategic Business Units, and the Finance, Human Resources, Operations and Supply Chain groups.

Most recently, Mr. Durette served in a similar role as vice president, srategy and business development for Textron, where he was responsible for designing and implementing a shareholder value-based strategic planning process to coordinate decision-making across the company’s portfolio of businesses. Prior to Textron, he was a consultant at Marakon Associates.
