To implemented online services for the issuance of sales license and other certificates

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) will soon implement the e-governance model adopted by Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA), Gujarat, India, in the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).

At the Pharmac 2009, a pharma exhibition conducted by the Gujarat State Board of the Indian Drug Manufacturer’s Association, DCGI has praised the efforts taken by the state regulator.

H G Koshia, commissioner of FDCA, said: “We are very happy to hear such words from the top official of the nations drug regulatory body. It is our pride and duty to share the e-governance and modernisation model we have implemented in the state with our fellow officers in other states.”

Reportedly, the e-governance module is under implementation for the past three to four years. The state has also implemented online services for the issuance of sales license and other certificates.

The FDCA has implemented online systems in its district offices and has developed an intranet service system, which will help fasten the communication between the officials. It has been issuing sales licenses and certificates like Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (CoPP) through online, for past one year.
