T-Ray Science has entered into a sub-licensing agreement with UK-based TeraView allowing it to use certain continuous wave (CW) TeraHertz (THz) technology, which is said to have numerous applications including process control in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, and medical imaging, which was originally patented by MIT, and licensed exclusively to T-Ray Science.

As per the terms of the sub-licensing agreement, T-Ray Science is expected to collect royalties on the sales of this product and any other products that utilise CW generation in the US.
TeraView pipeline of products include THz spectrometers such as CW Spectra 400TM which utilises the sub-licensed technology.
TeraView claimed that the system generates a continuous wave which has a tunable frequency that is emitted and detected through a set of proprietary, fibre-fed THz photomixers.
Further by the addition of suitable supports, gantries or other units, CW Spectra 400TM is capable of performing spectroscopy and imaging on a range of objects and materials.
Thomas Braun, president of T-Ray Science, said: “THz technology is different from other methods because one can image things as well as take measurements.”
