Azelastine ophthalmic solution is a prescription medication used for relieving itching caused by eye allergies. This medication comes in the form of an eye drop that is generally used twice daily.
Azelastine ophthalmic solution belongs to a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.
Caraco Pharma said that this sterile azelastine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution is therapeutically equivalent to Medpoint Pharmaceuticals’ Optivar Ophthalmic Solution, 0.05%.
Optivar Ophthalmic Solution contains azelastine hydrochloride, a relatively selective H1-receptor antagonist used for topical administration to the eyes.
Sun Pharma has also recently received FDA approval for its new drug application (ANDA) on this drug.
