The agreement, that will expire on August 21, 2013, will replace the existing contract that expires on August 18, 2010.
PPG’s Natrium plant manufactures chemicals, primarily chlorine and caustic soda, that have a variety of end uses including pharmaceuticals, water purification and paper and plastics production.
PPG Industries said that its products are found in the building blocks for pharmaceuticals and antibiotics. The availability of high-purity phosgene chemicals is essential in the manufacturing of high-quality active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Jim Rock, plant manager at Natrium PPG, said: “We believe the interests of the both the employees and the company were met in this negotiation, which took place well before the expiration of the existing contract.
“I’m glad we have this behind us so we can continue to focus on our manufacturing process while looking for more efficient methods to make our products.”
