Glaxo wins injunction against animal rights group

GlaxoSmithKline has secured a high court injunction against an unknown animal rights group that has threatened to publish shareholders' details on the internet if they do not sell their shares in the company within two weeks.

The ruling means that the publishing of the private investors’ details or any further contact with them is now prohibited by law, and that anybody who found to be in breach of the injunction could face jail.

The protestors are said to be targeting the company because of its use of the animal testing laboratory Huntingdon Life Sciences.

“We are determined to make every effort to protect our shareholders and this injunction supports those efforts being made by the police, who are taking this matter very seriously and are conducting a criminal investigation into these matters,” the company said in a statement.

In breaking news, it is being reported that 11 suspected animal rights extremists have been arrested by police in the UK. However police are so far unable to confirm or deny that the arrested people are involved with the threats against the GSK shareholders.
