Smiths Medical has been selected for a $10m contract from the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for safety hypodermic syringes. The award is part of the government’s national flu pandemic preparedness efforts.
Stuart Morris-Hipkins, president of Smiths Medical North America, said: “Expert estimates suggest that the H1N1 flu could affect half of all Americans, including groups like healthy young adults that were previously thought to be at low risk for flu. We are proud to use our capabilities to support the government’s efforts to protect as many people as possible from H1N1 flu.”
